Peru: Alpaca and the Southern Andes
October 10–24, 2026
Some journeys begin with a place. This one begins with a thread.
This fall, the International Folk Art Market (IFAM) is offering an intimate 15-day journey through southern Peru, designed and led by Living Threads co-founder Eric Mindling. From the white city of Arequipa to Lake Titicaca, hidden alpaca-weaving villages, and the ancient Incan capital of Cusco, the trip follows alpaca fiber as a living pathway into Andean creativity, reverence, and daily life.
Along the way, a small circle of just 10 travelers will meet extraordinary textile artists, including IFAM artists Timoteo Ccarita and Benita Ccana, and spend time with makers whose knowledge is held not in museums, but in hands, homes, fields, and stories.
It is a journey for those who believe that textiles can open doors—to people, to place, and to the living Earth that holds it all.
